First Retail Production 2023 Corvette Z06 Convertible Raises $1 Million for Thurgood Marshall College Fund

The 2023 Corvette Z06 was auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event and raised over $1 million for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Proceeds from the auction will help support students attending one of America's Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

A Brief History of the Corvette Z06

The Corvette Z06 was introduced in 1963 as a high-performance version of the Corvette Sting Ray.

It got its name after the Z07 option package available on the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray.

The Z06 included several performance-enhancing features, including a larger engine, stiffer suspension, and improved brakes.

The Z06 was produced sporadically over the years, with production halting entirely after the 1972 model year. It wasn't until 2001 that the Z06 returned as a special performance package for the fifth-generation Corvette. The sixth-generation Corvette, which debuted in 2014, saw the Z06 become its distinct model.

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund is the nation's largest organization exclusively representing the black college community. The organization provides scholarships, programs, and resources to help students attending HBCUs succeed in their academic and professional pursuits.
