What's New For The 2020 Chevy Equinox?

The Equinox represents a strong choice for anyone in the market for a small SUV in 2020. Already a great vehicle in years past, it gets even better this year thanks to the newly standard safety equipment. Each and every model will come equipped with automatic high beams, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Drivers will have the option of going with the Midnight Edition options package to set their Equinox apart.

What are the Available Trims and Features for 2020?

Consumers interested in the new Equinox will have four different trim levels to consider. They go by the names L, LS, LT, and Premier, and each level has a lot to offer. All trims have a front-wheel-drive option, and every trim except the entry-level L has an all-wheel-drive option as well.

Some of the amazing features that are standard on all versions of the 2020 Equinox include active noise cancellation, hands-free wireless, charging USB ports, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System featuring a 7-inch diagonal color touchscreen. The top-of-the-line Premier trim gets upgraded to a Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System featuring an 8-inch diagonal HD color touchscreen. Drivers can access their smartphone through either Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, both of which are standard on all trims.

2020 Chevy EquinoxOne of the best things about the Equinox is that it gives drivers a choice between two great turbocharged engines. First up is the standard 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder. Versions with this engine will generate up to 170-horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. Those seeking more power can go with the 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder engine. It will net you up to 253-horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 1.5L engine gets paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the 2.0L works well with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Safety Features in the Forefront for 2020

2020 Chevy EquinoxAs mentioned up above, even more safety features will come standard on the new Equinox. Other features aimed at keeping you and your loved ones safe include daytime running lights, a following distance indicator, a rear-vision camera, and rear seat reminder. The Premier trim will take safety even further by adding Rear Park Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert as standard rather than optional features.

All models of the Equinox also come with Teen Driver. This comprehensive feature allows you to add custom settings to particular key fobs. It can limit some features while also automatically engaging others. What's even better? Parents can get a report card in the vehicle about their teen's driving habits.
